2. First Fridays at the Crossroads Art District | September 1, 2023

Every first Friday of the month the KC Crossroads fills with galleries and exhibits of artists of all kinds! This experience offers an immersive view at the art of local, national and even international artists!

Make sure to find one of the Crossroads’ creative wall murals or visit the Art Alleys between Baltimore and Wyandotte from 18th Street to Southwest Blvd which are filled with art vendors and their individual artistic creations!

Enjoy local restaurants, breweries, food trucks and shops. This event is free to the community. Parking can be a challenge due to road closings for the event, so consider taking the complimentary KC Streetcar that runs through the area.

4. First Weekends in the West Bottoms | Sept 1-3, 2023

September’s Warehouse Weekend theme is KC’s Brews and BBQ in the Bottoms and is a great opportunity to taste some original Kansas City BBQ. The event will also feature ‘Mantiquing’.

The West Bottoms transform into a treasure-hunting paradise during the first weekend of each month. Antique and vintage stores open their doors for those in search of furniture, home decor and the occasional have-to-have statement piece. 

During the weekend of festivities, the eclectic nature of the West Bottoms is on display from street entertainers, escape rooms, food trucks and more!

6. Art Westport September 8-10, 2023

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enjoy the 43rd Art Westport event this September 8-10!

This large visual art show exclusively features regional artists’ work and draws crowds of over 30,000 visitors.

Official jurors include Marcus Cain, Philipp Eirich, Sherry Leedy, Linda Lighton, Lisbeth Blair Lurey, and Sonié Joi Thompson-Ruffin.

Live entertainment will be offered each evening for patrons to enjoy as they walk through the different exhibits set up by each art vendor.

The Beer Fest will be take place on September 14th of next year and allows patrons to enjoy craft beers, rare kegs and delectable food from around the world. Additionally, enjoy live music from local bands while you indulge!

This event takes place in the heart of downtown at the Power and Light District from 3-6pm! Grab you 21+ friends and get ready for some fun!

9. Halloween Haunt at Worlds of fun in Kansas city – September 15- October 28, 2023

The Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun event allows you to experience the thrills of your favorite rides and the chills of extreme haunted attractions as you navigate the fog-filled midways where over 400 monsters lurk to feed off your screams.

All you fear is here select nights in the Fall. Halloween Haunt is even more frightening after 6:30pm. During the Halloween event, no re-entry is allowed after 8PM, even with a hand stamp.

New for 2023: This year Halloween Haunt will now be a stand alone event with separate tickets and policies. Admission during fall daytime operating hours and Halloween Haunt require separate tickets. You can purchase a combo ticket with admission to daytime and Halloween Haunt.

For the 21+ crowd who still enjoy contests and games, Oktoberfest Live! is the way to go. The Power and Lights district hosts this event with seasonal beers, fantastic food, and live music. The icing on the cake are the Weiner Dog races!

14. Fall Family Festival | September 23, 2023

The annual Fall Family Festival allows families and their children the opportunity to be creative and explore their curiosities through several different outdoor events.

Stations include fruit and veggie tasting, garden crafts, bug exhibits, hand painting, yard games, scavenger hunts and more! This event hosted by Kansas City Community Gardens is a great way to get this kids outside this fall and help them learn about nature and plants.

This event is for BBQ lovers! Be a part of the world’s largest BBQ contest by attending the American Royal World Series of Barbecue! This event is the American Royal’s largest fundraiser of which funds go toward their mission of support youth and education in agriculture.

The contest is open to anyone that wants to show off their BBQ skills! But you don’t need to cook for this festival! Make sure to be there when the party really starts on Friday night with live music, cold beers and amazing BBQ. This event is family-friendly so be sure to stop by and sample all the BBQ there is to offer!

16. 2023 History Crawl of the Historic Northeast | September 30, 2023

This history crawl is led by tour guide and historian Michael Bushnell, author and publisher at The Northeast News.

In this history crawl walking tour, attendees will explore early 20th century Kansas City, viewing several landmarks and houses of the era and learning about the notable figures who resided and continue to live in the neighborhood. Space is very limited – get your tickets today!
