1. First Weekends at urban mining (June 30 – July 3)

Urban Mining first weekend in April

2. First Fridays at the Crossroads Art District (July 1)

Every first Friday of the month the KC Crossroads fills with galleries and exhibits of artists of all kinds. This experience offers an immersive view of the art of local, national, and even international artists. Enjoy local restaurants, breweries, food trucks, and shops.

This event is one of the many free things to do in Kansas City in June. Parking can be a challenge due to road closings for the event, so consider taking the complimentary KC Streetcar that runs through the area.

3. First Weekends in the West Bottoms (July 1-3)

The West Bottoms transform into a treasure-hunting paradise during the first weekend of each month. Antique and vintage stores open their doors for those in search of furniture, home decor and the occasional have-to-have statement piece. 

July’s Warehouse Weekend theme is Boom in the Bottoms and is a great opportunity to scout out some fun summer finds. 

During the weekend of festivities, the eclectic nature of the West Bottoms is on display from street entertainers, escape rooms, food trucks and more!

4. Stars & Stripes Picnic (July 2)

Pack a picnic and blanket and head to the lawn of the National WWI Museum and Memorial on July 2 for the Stars and Stripes Picnic. Starting at 3 p.m., guests are welcome to picnic and browse the offerings available from more than 50 local vendors. The evening’s entertainment begins at 6 p.m. and fireworks display will begin around 9:40 p.m. FREE to the public.

5. “Here and Now” Kenny Chesney Tour Comes to Kansas City (July 2)

Saturday, July 2nd at 5 pm, Kenny and other famous country musicians including Dan and Shay, Old Dominion and Carly Pearce will play music for patrons into the late hours of the night. Concert goers can enjoy a day full of tailgating in the stadium parking lot prior to the show!

6. Muppet’s Piano Drink-a-long Mixology Class (July 5, 12, 19 & 26)

After being virtual for the past 2 years due to covid-19, Fringe Festival returns to live stage performances this year. 12. Central States Benefit Horse Show (July 20-23)

The American Royal is hosting the annual Central States Benefit Horse Show on July 20-23. This well-attended show boasts a ring full of world-class horses performing in various sporting events! This is where competitors can obtain a start to a future in regional, national and international competitions!

13. Water Lantern Festival (July 23)

The Water Lantern Festival is filled with fun, happiness and hope! The event is family-friendly and a great opportunity to cherish old memories and gain peace while coming together as a community to create a memorable experience.

Gates open at 6 pm for patrons to enjoy food trucks, music and fun until 8pm. At 8pm, attendees will be given their lanterns to design and decorate any way they wish.

Lantern launching will take place from 9-10 pm. The $25 fee per person includes entry wristband, floating lantern kit, LED candle, and a drawstring bag. This fun Kansas City event takes place across from Nelson Atkins Art Museum.

14. John Mulaney at Starlight Theater (July 23)

John Mulaney, a two-time Emmy and WGA award-winning writer, actor, and comedian is coming to Kansas City to offer a night full of laughter! He began writing for SNL in 2008 and has since created top rated Netflix comedy specials. He will be preforming at Starlight theater on July 23 at 8pm.

15. George Straight at Arrowhead Stadium (July 30)

The “King of Country” returns to Arrowhead Stadium to put on an unforgettable show. The George Strait event will include Parker McCollum as an opener as well as additional music favorite’s Chris Stapleton & Little Big Town. This will be George’s first time playing the venue in over 20 years.

16. Stars and Stripes 5k (July 3)

Ready to get active for a good cause this July? The 11th annual Stars and Stripes 5k is taking place on Saturday, July 3rd at 7:30am. A portion of proceeds go towards Team RWB which is an organization supporting America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. All runners will receive a t-shirt, medal and post event snacks. A fun run will be available for kids eight. Prices based on age.
