Faulkner’s Ranch is one of the closest pumpkin patches Kansas City has to offer. There are more than 25 activities aside from just pumpkin picking. Some of these activities include pony rides, corn maze, wagon rides, pedal karts, playground, petting farm, and a mega slide.

2023 marks the 25th Pumpkin Season for Faulkner’s Ranch.

The pumpkin patch will be open for the 2023 season from September 29 – Sunday, October 29 (closed on Mondays).

2. City Market

The City Market’s Farmers’ Market is the largest farmers’ market in the region and always a top choice for produce. While it isn’t a Kansas City pumpkin patch, it’s a great option to find a pumpkin if you can’t make it to a pumpkin farm.

Carolyn’s Country Cousins is known as Missouri’s mega pumpkin patch and our top pick because it is big enough to allow for various fun activities all day long.

Pumpkin Valley is a family-owned 60-acre farm whose pumpkin patch festivities happen every weekend in October! Start a visit at Pumpkin Valley by milking a cow or petting an alpaca before picking the perfect pumpkin.

The patch is usually open until 6 pm every day in October. The activities you can enjoy here include pumpkin painting, Indian teepee, potato sack races, and face painting,

Pumpkin Valley also features pony, train, and hayrides as well as two bounce houses, a large pumpkin slide, petting zoo, hay maze, a corn fountain, and a mini ninja-warrior course for children.

Alldredge Orchards offers a pumpkin patch as well as U-pick apples Saturdays and Sundays in September (apples) and October (pumpkins) from 10 AM until 5 PM. Visitors are also offered hay and wagon rides.

Lunch is served in their cafe from 11-3.

Admission $6 per person, ages 2 and up. Tickets for Supermegaslide are $1 each, Train Ride $3 each

There is no admission for u-pick apples or visit the store or cafe.

Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch grows 60 varieties of pumpkins on the farm and offers fun activities during their Fall Festival that include a corn maze, carousel, hayrides, corn crib, playground, giant corn pit, and apple orchard among other fun things.

The pumpkin patch and farm is open except Tuesday; 9 am – 7 pm Sunday-Thursday and 9 am – 9pm Friday-Saturday, from September 15-30. From October 1-30, 2023 it is open on Monday, Thursday and Sunday from 9 am – 7 pm and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday from 9 am – 9pm. On October 31st they are open from 9 am – 6pm.

Pumpkins ETC is perfect for anyone who wants to visit a family-owned farm with pumpkins, gourds, squash, vegetables, mums, and Indian corn. The pumpkin festival has activities that include fall decorations, corn mazes, and hay bales, among others. Entry is free.

Johnson Farms is a 140-acre family-owned farm that features 50 acres of land for fun activities. It has a pumpkin shed from which you can buy pumpkins, or you could head out to pick your own from their pumpkin patch. They also have sunflowers, mums, apples, and veggies for sale.

Join them for their 22nd year of offering U-pick Pumpkins, Veggies, Apples, Sunflowers and 23,000 mums. Don’t forget to enjoy their pumpkin spice donuts and cider slushies which are available every day during the season.

Activities include a jumping pillow, pig races, tractor-pulled wagon rides, and pumpkin cannons.

Weston Red Barn Farm has for a long time been a favorite for the residents of Kansas City. They are known for their guords and rare kinds of pumpkins, such as the New England Cheese and Australian Blue. The farm is also has a corn maze, farm animals, and two country stores.

Starting in mid-late September, their Fall Festival weekends feature hayrides, pumpkins, ponies, caramel apples, BBQ, and apple cider.

The Weston Red Barn Farm is open daily in September and October from 9 am to 5 pm.

12. Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch

Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch offers all the fall fun you can think of. Beyond picking your own pumpkin, visitors can visit a corn maze, go for a hayride, and enjoy the thrill of zip lining, among other fun activities.

Every Saturday and Sunday, you can enjoy listening to live bluegrass music as you watch tons of apples pressed into cider, taste a few of the popular apple cider donuts and listen to bluegrass music.

Their fall festival activities kick off Saturday, September 16th also include a 10-acre corn maze, and 10-acre pumpkin patch, bee hive exhibit, hay wagon rides, giant swing set and many more. The 120-year-old barn is a fun visit for all ages. Another fun perk of this farm is renting a private fire pit to enjoy s’mores and other fun treats.

Ciderfest is Sep 23, 24, 30 & Oct 1 from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Louisburg Cider Mill is open year round. The Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch is open September 16 – October 31, 2023.

5 Tips for Your Pumpkin patch Adventure

  1. Dress in Layers & bring a light rain jacket.
  2. Wear boots. Even if it’s not a rainy day, the fields could still be muddy. Here is my favorite boot for fall. If you have kids, these cute rain boots are perfect!
  3. Bring a garbage bag (for muddy boots) and an extra pair of shoes for the drive home.
  4. Bring a picnic blanket and picnic lunch to enjoy on the farm.
  5. Don’t forget sunscreen and hand wipes!


Sadly, after 45 Seasons Dunn’s Cider Mill is closed as of September of 2022. We are hoping to hear if they sell the mill so the legacy can continue. If anyone has information on this please reach out.

But, there are plenty of other fun ways to celebrate the fall season!

Boo at the Zoo

Boo at the Kansas City Zoo is a fun experience where children receive treats while enjoying Halloween-themed activities and entertainment. The zoo animals will be smashing pumpkins at scheduled times throughout the day.

Liberty Corn Maze

Liberty Corn Maze is a fun fall tradition. This year’s design theme for opening weekend we will be honoring First Responders (police, firefighters, EMTs) and military. These heroes will get one free admission with a valid service ID.

There are eight mazes total – four designed for kids and four elaborate ones with varying degrees of difficulty.

Smaller mazes made with rock, rope, tire and soybeans are perfect for little ones that aren’t ready for the big maze. The festivities begin on Friday, September 15, 2023 and the maze will close on Sunday, October 29.

Pony Express Pumpkin Fest

Pony Express Pumpkin Fest is an annual, family-focused festival sponsored by the Pony Express Museum and takes place at Patee Park.

Children’s activities include crafts and games, a wandering magician, a balloon man, storytelling, and much more.

The highlight of the celebration takes places on Friday at 8pm, when over 800 hand-carved pumpkins will be electrically lit on “Pumpkin Mountain” in front of the museum. A special lighting will also occur at 8pm on Saturday.

Several food vendors will be on site.
